Evaluating your hearing and balance

If you, or the people around you, have noticed changes in your hearing or balance then you may be ready to speak with an Audiologist. During your Hearing Evaluation, an Audiologist will ask questions about:

  • Your hearing
  • Tinnitus (a ringing or other sound in your ears), if you experience it
  • History of noise exposure
  • Dizziness
  • Family history
  • General health

Along with a hearing test, the information you provide will help determine the health of your hearing.

If you are over the age of 50, or it has been more than 2 years since your last hearing test, we recommend seeing an Audiologist for a Hearing Evaluation.

Professional Audiologists

Our team of professional Audiologists diagnose and treat hearing loss, tinnitus, and balance disorders. Audiologists have advanced training at the university level which makes them uniquely qualified in the prevention, identification and treatment of hearing loss.

Owner/Audiologist Dr. Erin Wright has a doctorate in clinical Audiology and 25 years of experience helping people hear and communicate better.

Hearing aids

Broadmead Hearing Audiologist Fitting A Hearing Aid

Hearing aids are micro-computers, worn in or behind the ear, that make it possible for a person with hearing loss to hear sound. Early treatment of hearing loss with hearing aids can bring missing sounds back into range. Some of the factors that an Audiologist will consider when recommending hearing aids:

  • Your level of hearing loss
  • Your lifestyle and what type of listening situations apply to you
  • Your technology preferences. For example, do you want to connect your hearing aids wirelessly to your smartphone or television?
  • Comfort based on the size and shape of your ear
  • Price and quality

Independently owned

Oak Bay Hearing Clinic is independently owned. That means we can choose from any manufacturer to find the perfect hearing aids for you. To find out more about what’s new in hearing aids from the major manufacturers such as ReSoundOticonPhonakStarkey, and Widex watch Dr. Erin Wright’s video.

Accessibility

The Oak Bay Hearing Clinic consultation rooms, hearing testing booth, and washrooms are wheelchair accessible. Parking is on-street.

What a client says

I chose Dr. Erin Wright at the Oak Bay Hearing Clinic after reading an article stating that she was not associated with any specific hearing aid company but rather would fit the best aid for my hearing loss. Not only has Dr. Wright been totally professional, but the service of the Oak Bay Hearing Clinic has been extraordinary.
