Finally there is an app for iPhones and Androids that will allow a hearing aid user to adjust their hearing aid settings using their phone. It is much more incognito than reaching up behind your ear or pulling out a remote control. The app allows the user to change programs or volume via their phone. This is due to the 2.4 GHz wireless streaming technology that is only being used by Resound.
Most of the other hearing aid manufacturers are using Bluetooth to communicate to the hearing aid which requires a Bluetooth receiver that is worn or used externally from the hearing aid itself. Bluetooth technology requires too much battery drain to be put directly inside the hearing aid so there needs to be an external device to receive the Bluetooth signal.
The other good thing about the new Resound product is its functionality for musicians. Musicians often notice that listening to music with hearing aids sounds tinny. Resound has developed a unique microphone processor to reduce the compression of the sound when it is entering the hearing instrument. So far, reports from musicians have been positive surrounding this product.
Resound is unique in their wireless connections and their partnership with Apple is the first in the industry.
