I was born and raised in Cloverdale, BC.  With initial thoughts of becoming a psychologist, I entered UBC and completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.  In that time, I discovered the human communication disorder field and decided to pursue  my Master of Science specializing in Audiology at Dalhousie University.  I spent three years in Halifax exploring this field.  My final work term in Edmonton at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital allowed me to develop a wide range of audiological skills in a tertiary care setting.

After graduating from Dalhousie, I relocated to Ottawa where I had the opportunity to work at the Ottawa Civic Hospital and the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).   In this time, I had the pleasure of working with both adults and children, developing my skills in assessing, diagnosing, and treating those with hearing loss.  With adults I specialized in hearing aid fitting and follow-up, vestibular assessments, tinnitus counselling, and auditory brainstem response testing.  At CHEO I was responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of kids with hearing loss, fitting hearing aids on children as young as a few months old.

While in Ottawa, my partner and I welcomed our daughter Maya in 2004 and son Rowan in 2007.  After a number of winters in Ottawa, we moved our young family back to the West Coast.  We set our sights  on Victoria, moving in the fall of 2007. Shortly thereafter, I joined the Broadmead Hearing Clinic, a perfect fit for my auditory health care background.

I love my field of work and enjoy the personal, physiological, psychological and technological aspects of audiology.  While I work two days a week at the present time to balance work and family, I plan to work full-time once my children are both in school.  In the meantime, I enjoy spending time with family, exploring Victoria, reading, running, and travelling.

Hearing Fact

More than 8 million Canadians have some type of hearing problem. Hearing difficulties are often unrecognized by the person involved. Children and teenagers seldom complain about the symptoms of hearing loss, and adults may lose their hearing so gradually they do not realize it is happening.

The first step in treatment of a hearing problem is a hearing evaluation by an audiologist.

Testimonials

Dr. Erin Wright and her staff have provided exceptional treatment to a great number of patients since I first met her 9 years ago.  Her professional knowledge is amazing and the compassion she shows is appreciated by all who meet her.  Me and another of her patients circulated a petition to Veteran’s in our Chief’s and PO’s association where we obtained over 60 signatures to nominate her as business woman of the year.
